Having tried Hibernate for a few days now, I still can't find a way to easily understand the various ways of expression relationships.

I find the "many-one, inverse=true, many-many, etc" tags to be very confusing.

What I would really like is a doc with a rather elaborate UML diagram showing different ways of expression collections and the corresponding mapping document. That would make things easier for newbies like me.

Have a look at the External Documentation part of Hibernate web site.

http://www.xylax.net/hibernate/index.html is what you want, I gess.

inverse="true" refer to who is responsible of the association in a bi-direzctional association.

inverse="true" means the other part is responsible of the association.
