Is there any specific location for the hibernate mapping file. I want to place the mapping file in the respective packages.In case should there be any configuration change required ?

You can place your hibernate mapping files anywhere.You just have to mention the path in your hibernate.cfg.xml file.Hope it is very much clear to you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just want to confirm whether it should be in the following format :
<mapping resource="com/test/model/Customer.hbm.xml"/>

or is it different ?

The paths specified in the hibernate.cfg.xml must be ralative to the hibernate.cfg.xml file. So if you xml file is at the same level as your com directory, then yes, it's correct.
