Is Hibernate 4.2.17 compatible with Spring 3.2.2 ? currently we use Hibernate 4.2.11, but want to upgrade to atleast Hibernate 4.2.17 to make use of the new mysql dialect.

From Hibernate perspective, such a minor update should not pose problems when migrating. You should give it a try and see how it works for your application.
