With our recent upgrade to Hibernate 4.3.6, noticed that the parent classes without any data in the database table got a discriminator column added to the table but the parent classes with data did not get a discriminator column added. and see this exception in the logs when I try to access the entity

Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Invalid column name 'dtype'.
at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException.makeFromDatabaseError(SQLServerException.java:216)

How do I force add a discriminator column on an entity with existing data?
