If the property type implements java.io.Serializable and is not a basic type, and if the property is annotated with @Lob, hibernate srializy it using SerializationHelper. Is it possible to use your own processor for @lob annotation on Serializable ?
SerializationHelper use java serialization, that is rather slow.
