Is there a built in progress bar or some method that will show a user running a query a progress bar or some sort of method to inform the user the query is running!

I suppose you are talking about a hibernate query here.

Normally i would see the request in the firebug. Time taken by the request is usually 1 or 2 sec above the query timing.

But can you please specify some more details like what is your case scenario and what do you want to achieve after doing this , so that i can help you in more detail here.
