 Post subject: comparing old and new values strategy

1: I have an entity that has been loaded form the database and it is shown in the GUI. (Session is closed after read)
2: The user changes the values and want to change these values
3: Now, before actually saving it to the database, I want to compare old and new values of the entity, to validate if all changes are correct and allowed.

What is the best strategy to do this with Hibernate.
