 Post subject: count of "criteria with projections" results

Hi,
I have requirement something like this,

this is my native query,

select count(*) from
( select distinct col1, col2 from tab1
)

How do I achieve this with HQL or criteria API?

I tried with projections.rowCount(), but it doesnt help here, as my sub query is distinct on columns.

Any help is appreciated.
