I noticed the method openSession() in the SessionFactory. Normally I would call getCurrentSession() which I assume would all openSession() behind the scenes if one has not been opened. However, in what scenarios would you want to open "multiple" sessions manually by calling openSession() multiple times while other sessions are currently active?

Multiple transactions for multiple users. Parallel batch processes. Different databases with the same schema. Do you want more examples?
