Hi all,

I have a weird problem.I have a Generic DAO library which uses Spring 3.0.4 and Hibernate 3.5.6 (core and Entitymanager).
Everything works wonderful

When I upgrade to the latest version of Spring 3.0.5. it still works. When I upgrade to Hibernate 3.6 Final (which is supposed to work with Spring 3.0.5) I get this weird error:

The Nullpointer is here:

properties.putAll( dialect.getDefaultProperties() );

in the class SettingsFactory.

Here is my persistence.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<persistence version="2.0"
xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/ ... ce_2_0.xsd">
<persistence-unit name="tdb02" transaction-type="RESOURCE_LOCAL">

<class>com.unitedinternet.portal.genericdao.ArticleEmailSchedule</class>
<properties>

<property name="hibernate.dialect" value="org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle9Dialect" />

<property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.driver" value="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" />
<property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.url"
value="jdbc:oracle:thin:@******" />
<property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.user" value="***" />
<property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.password" value="***" />

</properties>

</persistence-unit>
</persistence>

There seems to be a problem with the Oracle Dialect. I also tried removing the "9" because I saw this elsewhere but it didn't change anything.

Does anybody have a similar problem?

Claus

I learned a little more. There is a problem with the Oracle JDBC metadata:

But this only happens with Hibernate 3.6.0. It works fine with 3.5.6.

I guess you are using wrong database dialect.
