 Post subject: Problem in row_number() over

I have problem in following query
Select entity.name, row_number() over (order by entity.name)
from Entity entity.
The problem is org.hibernate.hql.ast.QuerySyntaxException: unexpected token: over [Select entity.name, row_number() over (order by entity.name) from Entity entity]
can any one please tell me what is problem in using row_number() over (order by ****)
