formula -two date subtraction - precision too long exception

am using a Long Property to map calculated formula column which returns number of days.

it works upto 3 digit numbers 999, but not 1000 days if the difference is. throws precision value too long exception.

Code:

if difference btwn date1 and date2 is less than 1000(4digit) it works. else thows exception.

kindly advice.

what is date1 and date2.
can you send the code.
