I have a web project and it works on another work environment.

When I try to run this at home, I am getting the error from hibernate invalid schema could not execute statement.

I tried to copy the select statement from the console and run it in an sql client and it works.

What could be the problem?

setup problem. connection url for hsqldb was wrong so it ran as embedded instead so the create scripts were created on the wrong isntance of DB. Sorry for the waste of time.
