 Post subject: Is .hbm.xml mandatory

Hi,
I am using Hibernate quite some time.
Yesterday I renamed the file school.conf.hbm.xml to school.hbm.conf.xml.
It worked.
Isn't the extension .hbm.xml mandatory.

I am using hibernate 3.0.

Would you please solve my confusion here?

I think there are some tools that will require it, but I don't think it's mandatory.

if you use annotation, then you don't need use hbm.xml
