I need to execute a JDBC querry. How can I do that. I followed the following

public SessionFactory sessionFactory = new Configuration().configure().buildSessionFactory();
session =sessionFactory.openSession();
Connection conn=session.connection();
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
stmt.executeQuery(sql);

But session.connection appears to be depricated. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.
