I noticed that Cache and CacheProvider are deprecated but I can't find any information on why or what the new interface/strategy is.. The 'for details' link in the JavaDoc for the deprecated APIs also seems to be broken.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,
Phill

Encountered this as well. Here's an alternative link:
http://docs.jboss.org/hibernate/core/3.3/api/org/hibernate/cache/package-summary.html

The package description states:

Quote:
The legacy (and now deprecated) approach to caching is defined by the CacheProvider and Cache interfaces as well as the CacheConcurrencyStrategy interface along with the various implementations of all these interfaces.
...

And:
Quote:
The improved approach is based on RegionFactory, the various Region specializations and the two access strategies contracts (EntityRegionAccessStrategy and CollectionRegionAccessStrategy).
