What is difference hibernate.properties with hibernate.xml ?

Use either or.
The intention is the same. Personally I prefer the xml version

The first one is loaded one time and can contain System Level properties
The second can be reloaded, you can even load different xml version for different SessionFactories, this one cannot contain system Level Properties
